Safari for Windows (still on beta)

Posted by Luigi on June 13, 2007

Its exactly 12:15am and I should be sleeping by now. Well, I was trying to sleep since 10pm but my body clock wont adjust. Hehe. Ok, when my brother got home he tuned the TV to Bandila, that late news show in ABS-CBN. I was covering my head with a big pillow trying to sleep. But the television’s noise could still slip through the spaces between the pillow under my head and the pillow on top. I was startled when I heard the noun Micro$oft. So the first thing that came into my head was “Microsoft? In the news?”. So yes, being a normal tech savvy pinoy, I waited on standby to see the news about M$. When I heard Apple was featuring Safari for Windows my jaw dropped. And yes, with excitement, I ran to my computer (which was still online), and googled “Safari for Windows”. Saw Apple’s Safari site and as expected, headline was about Safari for Windows. Downloaded it for like 3-5 minutes which sized about 8mb and launched the installer.

Now I am here, typing in my wordpress blog about Safari. I dont want to spoil the looks and interface. I want you to see it for yourself. So sorry, no screenies. :)

Conclusion: Ilavit. I mean, the interface looks great, the text and bars are like based from the famous Linux’ desktop environment, KDE. Maybe just like Konqueror, or Opera in K/Ubuntu. Though the hotkeys greatly differs from those in Firefox. Like you press CTRL+TAB to switch tabs in Firefox, and you press CTRL+} or { which will require you to press the SHIFT Key. Middle-clicking a tab wont close it, not like in Firefox. BUT Safari features Private Browsing which will not record or save any history of your browsing when it is engaged.

I really love it. I cant wait for the major release. I know it would be muuuuuch better.

Ill be editing this post maybe tomorrow. For now, I better sleep. :)
